Make the Walk for Peace, Justice, Environment a Success!

Kamloops’ 33rd annual walk and related activities for peace, social justice, and the environment will be held Saturday, May 3rd, 2008 from Farmers Market/Stuart Wood School grounds.
10:00 AM - entertainment, speakers, children’s activities, and food
Noon - walk
12:30 PM - more entertainment
Things you can do to help make this year’s walk a success:
- pick up and distribute posters, handbills, and postcards from the Smorgasbord Deli and distribute them around town
- volunteer to set up, tear down, ensure safety for walk participants, serve food, staff a table, hand out flyers, etc. Contact Anne at <agrube@sd73.bc.ca> or 374-3234.
- If you belong to a group actively working for peace, social justice or protecting the environment, promote your work at the walk by setting up a table. Contact Jane at <jbirkbeck@tru.ca> or 372-3690.
- Support the proclamation request at City Hall*
- attend the May 2nd talk The Economic Consequences of War
*Anita Strong is asking Mayor and Council to proclaim May 4-11, 2008 “A week to celebrate peace, social justice, and the environment”. If you support this request, please show up at the Council meeting: 3:00 PM Tuesday April 29th, 2008.
