Paper Plates - Just Say No !

Between potlucks and picnics, it has become common for people to use paper plates, plastic cups, and plastic cutlery to avoid the inconvenience of having to transport reusable dishes from their homes and wash them afterwards. Disposable dishes are so readily available and inexpensive that people often do not consider alternatives. (more…)

Embracing our Natural Habitat

When I was working to save a particular piece of natural space that I loved, I was told by one of the Kamloops’ city councilors that our city has  the largest amount of parkland in relation to any comparable area. He said it as though I should back off and quit trying to save this piece; a sort of “plenty more where that came from” attitude. (more…)
